Assignment 3: Outcome 3

line

Ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs.

Your Major:
Your Class year:
Today's date:
Outcome Number:

  1. Restate the outcome in your own words.
  2. Questions specific to the outcome.
    1. Identify a recent occasion on which you encountered the outcome, and the approximate date on which this occurred. Please choose just one occasion, and describe it as specifically as possible (e.g. a specific laboratory experiment, rather than a laboratory course in general). Please choose an occasion that you have not used for any other outcome.
    2. Describe the assignment or occasion and explain specifically how it relates to the outcome.
    3. Assemble one or more pieces of evidence to demonstrate your experience. Please choose evidence that contains at least some of your work. For example, a letter of recommendation written about you by another person is less useful than a letter that you have written about yourself and your abilities. Since some people reading your (electronic) portfolio will not have the evidence in front of them, please describe what the evidence consists of in enough detail that the rest of the entry will make sense.
    4. Please write specifically what you want us to notice about the evidence you've included, and why.
    5. Finally, please write down what you would like the reader to know about this evidence that they could not tell just by looking at it.
  3. How does the outcome relate to your educational or life goals? Give a specific example of a (hypothetical, if necessary) situation in which mastery of this outcome will help you later in life.
  4. What is the current state of your learning or skills relevant to this outcome? Please rate yourself on the following scale: 1=not where I need to be; 2=just about where I should be; 3=advanced relative to my peers. Please write a couple of sentences explaining your reasons for the rating you assigned to yourself.
  5. Based on your current proficiency relative to this outcome,
    1. What are your next learning objectives relative to this outcome?
    2. What do you plan to do next in order to achieve them?

If you're having trouble figuring out this outcome, take a look at these suggestions which will help you focus your thoughts a little better.
