Goals for this course
This course is very technical. After this course, students must be able to:

  • Operate vector functions of one variable (differentiation, integration, analysis of curves)
  • Differentiate functions of many variables with applications to maxima and minima of such functions
  • Integrate functions of many variables (compute areas, volumes, etc.)
Students should be able to operate these subjects freely, without any computer assistance. Much attention will be paid to practical skills. Recitation (conference) sessions will become an indispensable part of the course. Labs will be used as a means f or visual illustrations and in this capacity will be helpful for solving problems analytically.

There will be two projects assigned through this course along with regular homework. These projects will be credited separately.
