The following examples refer to Bradley's Calculus.

Tangent Lines are imperative to the understanding of the derivative which occurs in the definition of many basic terms in Physics.

The following examples refer to Young and Freedman's University Physics.

A good example involving derivatives, integrals, and graphs occurs when friction forces resulting from motion through a fluid increases with the body's speed through the fluid (pg. 137 Example 5-18)

An examples of a discontinuous function in physics involves static and kinetic friction. When a body starts from rest, there is a discontinuity in the coefficient of friction when the friction force changes from static friction to kinetic friction (pg. 134 Figure 5-17)

Examples:

Newton's second law of motion (F=ma) involves first and second derivatives which can be integrated into the problem. It is also an example of the chain rule
