Bridge Activities for Week 2

For a Calculus class:

• Problem #1
  Find examples of rectilinear motion in both your physics and calculus textbook. Produce graphs of displacement, velocity, and accleration. Are there any differences in notation used by the two books?
  
  
• Problem #2
  There are some nice examples on the Physics 1110 web page. Go there and find a problem about rectilinear motion. For example, there are nice problems on the first exam.
  
  
• Problem #3
  The physics book is full of functions. Find one example of a function that is discontinuous. Find one example of a function with a discontinuous derivative. Define all variables clearly and include a complete reference (book, page, and figure or equation number, if relevant).
